The wine journey: bottling, labelling and dispatch
At the winery, every wine has its own journey. It begins in the vineyard, continues in the cellar… but that is by no means the end of the story. Before the wine reaches your table, it must go through one more important stage – bottling, labelling and dispatch.
That’s exactly what we’ve focused on this time.
Bottling wine
We bottle the wine on an automated line, where the bottles are rinsed with filtered water, filled and sealed either with a cork or a screw cap. It is vital to maintain the wine’s maximum purity and stability.
At first glance, it seems like a routine process, but in reality it is one of the most delicate stages.
There is no room for error here – cleanliness, precision and the smooth operation of the entire line are crucial. Every detail determines the condition in which the wine reaches you.
The line must be sanitised before each bottling. We do this using steam, and the whole process takes nearly 4 hours.
Labelling
Although a filled bottle is technically complete, it is the label that gives it its identity.
The grape variety, vintage, vineyard plot… everything you need to know about the wine is displayed right here.
At the same time, it is the customer’s first point of contact with the wine – and as we know, first impressions count for a lot.
That is why we take great care not only to ensure the label is applied accurately, but also to ensure the overall appearance is perfect.
Packaging and dispatch
We pack the finished bottles into cartons and prepare them for dispatch.
From there, they’re on their way:
- to your home
- to restaurants
- or directly to us at Vinařský dvůr at the vicarage in Ivani
And that’s where one journey of the wine ends… and another begins – in your glass 🍷
